FARF Legislative Fly-In

In March, a team of employees from Sunrise Community had the opportunity to attend the Florida Association of Rehabilitation Facilities (FARF) Legislative Fly-In. This event provides an opportunity for providers in the intellectual and developmental disabilities services industry to meet with Florida senators and representatives to advance their requests and advocate for the people they serve.

Hartford Foundation Gives Sunrise a Lift

For years, the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving has supported Sunrise Northeast by providing funding for our summer camp program for people with disabilities. Even at the onset of the pandemic, the Foundation generously supported our efforts to provide a virtual camp experience to over 150 enthusiastic campers in the safety of their homes.

As a disability rights activist, she fought tirelessly to promote equal opportunities for people with disabilities and to challenge societal attitudes that excluded them from full participation in their communities.

Exploring ABLE Accounts

ABLE accounts, also known as Achieving a Better Life Experience accounts, are a relatively new financial tool that can benefit people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). These accounts were created to provide a tax-advantaged savings option for people with disabilities. In this post, we’ll review what ABLE accounts are, how they work, and the benefits they offer to people with disabilities.

Celebrating A Day For Love!

This Valentine’s Day, over 300 persons served and staff from across South Florida got together at the Eureka Work Center to celebrate a day filled with friendship and love! The Sunrise Day for Love event was meant to bring everyone together to celebrate.
