On a recent visit to the Tallahassee Capitol for Developmental Disabilities Awareness Day, Sunrise Community had the honor of partnering with the Agency for Persons with Disabilities (APD) to showcase the incredible artistic talents of the individuals we serve.

The Sunrise Makery is a unique and vibrant shop with a big mission. Operated by individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, the Makery offers a wide range of handmade fragrance products, including hand soaps, sugar scrubs, and other fragrant items.

As we embark on Black History Month, we want to take a moment to shine a light on four remarkable individuals whose tireless efforts and unwavering commitment have left an unforgettable mark on the fight for justice and equality. Fannie Lou Hamer, Brad Lomax, Barbara Jordan, and Lois Curtis have each played a significant role in advocating for civil rights and inclusion.
