During the past quarter, Sunrise Community was excited to have been part of the Celebration of the Hands, held February 22 through February 27 at the Capitol during Children’s Week Florida.
This inspiring event brought together young children, teens, educators, families, advocates, and legislators from across the state to create a powerful visual display of custom hand artwork. The event served as a meaningful reminder to all who visited that the future of our communities is shaped by the care, advocacy, and decisions made today.

With nearly 33,000 unique and creative mini masterpieces contributed, the display stood as a vibrant symbol of unity, expression, and shared responsibility. It left a lasting impression on legislators and visitors alike, reinforcing the importance of supporting initiatives that uplift individuals and families across Florida.
Sunrise Community was honored to have contributed to this impactful experience, which aligns closely with our mission. We value inclusion and opportunities for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Opportunities like this allow us to be part of broader conversations that inspire positive change and strengthen the communities we serve.
We are grateful to all the artists, organizers, and partners who made this event possible. As we continue into the year, we remain committed to advocacy, awareness, and creating valued lives for the persons we support.
