National Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month

March marks National Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month, a time dedicated to recognizing the abilities, contributions, and achievements of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

At Sunrise Community, this month serves as a meaningful reminder of why our work matters. Every day, we have the privilege of supporting persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities as they build independence, strengthen life skills, develop friendships, and participate fully in their communities.

Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month is about more than awareness. It is about creating communities where individuals of all abilities are valued, respected, and given the opportunity to thrive. True inclusion means ensuring that people with developmental disabilities have access to meaningful experiences in employment, recreation, education, and everyday life.

Throughout Sunrise Community, we see firsthand the determination, growth, and accomplishments of the persons supported in our programs. Their successes, both big and small, continue to inspire our team, families, and the communities we serve.

As we recognize this important month, we encourage everyone to take a moment to learn more, advocate for inclusion, and celebrate the individuals who make our communities stronger every day.

Together, we can continue building a world where every person is respected, included, and empowered to live a valued life!
