Sponsored Residential Homes

The Sunrise Group of Companies, including Resources for Independence of Virginia, recruits qualified families, licensed by the state to provide 24 hours support in their homes to not more than two individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Sponsored residential homes are a part of the Resources for Independence of Virginia license. The Sunrise Group of Companies provides the screening, quality assurance, oversight and training to ensure consistent delivery of superior services.

Adult Companion Services

Companion services provide support and supervision that is focused on safety and non-medical care such as the following: •Reminding recipient to bathe, to take care of personal grooming and hygiene, and to take medication •Observing the supervision of snack and meal planning •Accompanying recipient to necessary medical appointments and grocery shopping •Assisting with laundry and light housekeeping duties that are essential to the care of the recipient. No type of skilled medical service may be performed through this service. Companion services are provided in accordance with a therapeutic goal and are not purely recreational in nature. Companion services are only available to recipients who live alone, and may not exceed four hours daily.

Community Living Arrangements (CLAs)

Community Living Arrangements (CLAs) are also known as group homes. They are personalized home environments in the community that is limited to 6 or less individuals. . Highly trained staff members provide 24/7 assistance with personal needs, daily living skills, and medical needs, promoting independence within the community. Each home is equipped with an accessible van for all transportation needs. Based on our demonstrated record of exemplary performance, Sunrise consistently receives two-year certifications for licensure renewal.

Specialized Medical Supplies

Specialized Medical Supplies allows a participant to interact within their environment. The individualize service plan specifies supplies that may include, food supplement's, clothing, briefs, bed liners, and other auxiliary supplies.

Community Access Services

Designed to assist the participant in acquiring, retaining or improving self-help, socialization, and adaptive skills required for active community participation and independent functioning outside the participant’s home. This may include training in the areas of daily living skills (including leisure/recreation skills), communication training, mobility training, programming to reduce inappropriate and/or maladaptive behaviors, and training in the use of common community resources. Services may be provided individually or in small groups as authorized by DBHDD. The emphasis of training will be on assisting the individual in increasing self help, socialization skills, skills of daily living and adaptive skills required for active community participation and independent functioning outside the participant’s home. These activities might include accompanying individuals to the grocery store, or eating establishments; teaching an individual how to participate in appropriate social and recreational activities; and assessing other activities of community living. Community Access Individual services are provided with a ratio of 1:1 while the ratio for Community Access Group is a maximum of 1:10. Ratios are based on the needs of each individual as authorized by DBHDD. Sunrise will offer or arrange for any of the Community Access Services that are needed by the individual and specified in his/her Individual Service Plan. The intended outcome is to improve the individual’s access to the community through increased skills and/or less paid supports.

Medical Residential

A housing option for those who need help with the activities of daily living and medical care that requires one or more skilled nursing services . Living quarters consist of private rooms with the individual's personal furnishings and decorations. Aids and staff respect resident privacy whenever possible and foster an atmosphere of independence and autonomy. A Medical Residential Services home has no more that four residents.

Medical Supported Living

A housing option for those who need help with the activities of daily living and medical care that requires one or more skilled nursing services . Living quarters consist of private rooms with the individual's personal furnishings and decorations. Aids and staff respect resident privacy whenever possible and foster an atmosphere of independence and autonomy. A Medical Residential Services home has no more that three residents.

Behavioral Analysis

Sunrise employees Certified Behavioral Analyst who help support individuals with behavioral challenges. Behavioral Analysis Services assists the individual in learning appropriate behaviors while replacing existing negative behaviors. Behavioral supports are offered based on individual need and needed family assistance. These supports may be provided in a home, school, place of employment, or a community setting. Behavioral assessments and supports are designed to help an individual function to the best of his/her ability within the community. To achieve this goal, Sunrise offers information about behavioral issues and strategies to parents and caregivers of individuals with challenging behaviors.


Supported Living Coaching

Supported living coaching provides training and assistance in a variety of activities to support individuals who live in their own homes or apartments. Supported living coaching helps provide the supports for the individual to establish, live in, and maintain a household in the community. Sunrise staff strives to foster nurturing relationships for individuals, maintain full membership in the community, and work toward the individual’s long-range personal goals. Some of the Supported Living supports offered by Sunrise include: •Providing assistance with selecting and moving into a home •Choosing support personal and housemates •Acquiring household furnishings •Assisting with common daily living activities and emergencies •Helping with life skills •Becoming a participating member in community life •Managing personal financial affairs

Group Homes

The Sunrise Group of Companies, provides residential services for adults and children with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, including Autism. We currently operate a variety of Group Homes in local neighborhoods settings. The homes are staffed 24/7 with trained and caring staff who provide supervision and training to ensure that each person becomes as independent as possible while their daily living needs are being met. Additionally, supports such as medical, dietary, and behavioral services may be available..

Intermediate Care Facility (ICF/IDD)

The Sunrise Group provides residential services for adults and children with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, including Autism, that provide 24-hour supervision, nursing services, therapies, behavioral supports, training in self-care, daily living, and social skills.

Personal Care/Hourly Services

Specific personal care activities (activities of daily living) and training is provided for a limited of time on a pre-determined scheduled, usually 2 or 3 hours a day, in the individual’s home or the individual’s family’s home. (The individual may not reside in a residential group home.)

Behavior Focus Group Homes

Behavior Focus Group Homes focus supports individuals with behavioral challenges. Respite Care

The Sunrise Group provides assistance to families to care for their loved ones when a needed planned break or emergency occurs. We provide the needed support and supervision, either daily or overnight, to allow the family members to attend to other responsibilities. Services are either in the family home or at the providers residential home depending on the location.

In-Home Supports/Personal Supports

In-Home Supports or Personal Supports are available for adults living in their own home or family’s home who need assistance in activities of daily living such as eating, bathing, dressing and meal preparation. Each individual receives a specific number of hours per week according to their needs. Supports can also include leisure and community integration as well as creation of safety nets to ensure the person can remain safely in their home for as long as possible.

Supported Living

Community Residential Alternative

Community Residential Alternative Services (CRA) are interventions focusing on training supports and personal development and life skills. CRA requires a license for the Georgia Office Regulatory Services.

Specialized Medical Equipment

Specialized Medial Equipment allows the participant to interact independently within the environment. This allows a participant in increase their mobility to perform daily living activities. This service allows provides funding for participants to purchase accessible equipment such as ramps, track systems, and home renovations.
