This week (September 13th – 19th, 2020), we are honoring Direct Support Professionals across the nation! Now more than ever, DSPs deserve recognition as the everyday heroes they are. Throughout this challenging year, DSPs have continued to exemplify what it means to be truly dedicated and selfless. DSPs have remained at the frontlines since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. They have been willing to adapt to continuously meet the needs of every individual they support while keeping safety a top priority.
At Sunrise, we strive to provide our employees with the necessary tools and resources to create valued lives for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. What makes this effort successful is our DSP’s innate compassion to put others before themselves daily. Our DSPs sacrifice time with their own friends and families to dedicate themselves to their Sunrise families. We often receive messages of gratitude from the families of those supported by Sunrise that demonstrate how much their impact is appreciated.
Direct Support Professionals wear many hats and don’t always receive the recognition they undoubtedly deserve. They are more than supportive staff – they are teachers, advocates, protectors, and caregivers. We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to our nearly 2,000 DSPs across Sunrise. You make it all possible. The work you do is the foundation of the mission of Sunrise. Your sacrifices do not go unnoticed. We will continue to celebrate the talent and success of our outstanding DSPs who make a difference in the lives of those they support and their families daily. We couldn’t do it without you, this week and every day.
Without dedicated and committed DSPs we would not be able to achieve the Sunrise mission of creating valued lives for people with disabilities.
