Celebrating Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month 2025: We’re Here All Year

March marks Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month (DDAM) as a time to recognize the talents, achievements, and contributions of persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).

This year, we’re proud to embrace the National Association of Councils on Developmental Disabilities (NACDD) theme: “We’re Here All Year.”  This theme emphasizes that community, accessibility, and opportunities for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities should be recognized and championed every day, not just during March.

At Sunrise Community, our commitment to the people we have the fortune to serve extends far beyond a single month. Every day, we empower persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) to live with dignity and reach a greater level of independence. Through our day programs, community involvement, and services provided, we ensure that the voices and abilities of the people we serve are heard, valued, and celebrated.

Whether it’s providing support for daily living, supporting creative expression, or advocating for community inclusion, our work reflects the belief that everyone deserves the opportunity to thrive.

Community, Accessibility, and Opportunities for All

We believe in removing barriers and fostering environments where everyone belongs. Our persons supported at Sunrise Community are active participants in their neighborhoods, supported employment workplaces, and social spaces. By promoting accessibility and encouraging community engagement, we ensure that their talents and contributions are recognized and respected all year long.

Join Us in Spreading Awareness

This March, and every day, we invite you to join us in celebrating the abilities and voices of persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities
