At Sunrise Community, we are committed to fostering an environment where all individuals, regardless of their abilities, can thrive.
On January 4th, we’re taking a moment to spread awareness on World Braille Day and honor the incredible impact of Braille and its role in promoting independence, education, and equality for people who are blind or visually impaired.
What is Braille?
Braille is a tactile writing system that uses raised dots to represent letters, numbers, and punctuation marks. It enables individuals with visual impairments to read and write independently by feeling these dots with their fingers.
Fun Fact: Who is Louis Braille?
Louis Braille was a French inventor and educator, who developed the Braille system of reading and writing for the visually impaired at just 15 years old, inspired by an accident that left him blind. His revolutionary tactile system is still used by millions of blind individuals worldwide today!
World Braille Day reminds us of how important it is to make the world a more accessible place for all individuals.
