At Sunrise, one of our greatest assets has always been our dedicated employees. We are thrilled to announce that our very own Cassandre Joseph was selected as the 2021 Florida Direct Support Professional of the Year among hundreds of other exceptional nominees! Cassandre has been working as a DSP with Sunrise Community – South Miami-Dade for three years and exemplifies the values and mission of the agency in her work. Join us as we celebrate Cassandre on this fantastic accomplishment.
Cassandre has demonstrated a ‘can-do’ attitude time and time again when performing her work duties. Cassandre consistently goes above and beyond the typical call of duty through impressive leadership skills, proactiveness, and supporting coworkers. Her continuous person-centered active treatment and focus on the goals of the individuals we serve exemplifies her character.
Due to COVID-19, individuals enrolled in public school could not attend in-person classes and were required to complete courses through the virtual education platform. Cassandre took the initiative to assist a student we serve by ensuring she could learn how to use the computer/tablet to complete classroom assignments, was present each day for class, and did not fall behind as she transitioned to online learning.
Cassandre has also fostered a very healthy relationship with the guardians and family members of the individuals served. Namely by maintaining consistent virtual communication during the pandemic. Restrictions put in place for the safety of the individuals required phases of self-quarantine. However, Cassandre ensured the individuals still had weekly telephone/facetime contact with their families and guardians to assure their loved ones were safe and well.

Cassandre Joseph is an outstanding young woman passionate about assisting people with disabilities to live valued lives. She has been working with individuals with special needs for the past three years and enjoys every day she gets the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of the individuals served.
We are so proud to have Cassandre on the Sunrise team and look forward to seeing how she will continue to positively impact the lives of the people we support.
