As the Sunrise Group looks to expand services strategically, it came to our attention that two large institutions were closing in eastern and western Pennsylvania. After visiting the institutions, we joined the big provider advocacy network and began our due diligence in the state regulatory system. We started our application to become a provider in southeast PA.
As with all things, the pandemic delayed our application and unfortunately impacted our hiring of an Executive Director. However, we have learned that good things come to those who wait, and so do good people.
When we restarted our interviews for Executive Directors, one person stood head and shoulders above the rest, not only on paper but also in person (aka ZOOM). Zenida Driver’s positive energy was immediately contagious. Her passion for humankind, her commitment to quality services, and teaching staff were exactly what we were looking for. Zenida has hit the ground running, and we look forward to working with her as an integral part of Sunrise leadership.
We asked Zenida to share a bit about herself, and here’s what she had to say:
I am a life-long student of human behavior and social interaction with over 15 years of experience as an accomplished trainer, professional speaker, and supervisor in the field of human services. My commitment to helping others has guided both my academic and professional endeavors.
I received my Doctorate Degree from Eastern University in 2015 and serve as an adjunct professor for several esteemed universities. I am a Board member for Seton Hall University Customer Service Program and have participated in various university and community task forces.
I enjoy all things basketball. I am an extremely proud basketball mom. Of course, as a Pennsylvania resident, the 76ers are my favorite team. However, my son is privileged to play for an NBA player’s AAU team, so that is my #1 favorite team.
With that being said, I enjoy yelling at the referees for not making the proper calls, yelling at the scorekeepers for not giving our team their points fast enough, and loudly cheering every time our team scores even if we are losing the game. Being a basketball mom is one of my favorite things to do.
On that note, I am excited to be a part of the Sunrise team and look forward to doing great things in Pennsylvania.
