Last week, Sunrise Community had some very helpful guests at our 120-person residential campus located in Homestead, Florida. Student volunteers from the Coral Gables Police Athletic League joined Sunrise Community staff in a beautification project that involved painting, gardening, and cleaning our vehicles. While such large-scale work can be a daunting task, our volunteers were more than happy to work as diligently as possible.
For those who are unfamiliar with it, our expansive campus is the permanent home for over one hundred people with developmental disabilities. A residential complex and several villas combine to form a miniature neighborhood, specifically designed to assist and support men and women with moderate to severe disabilities. Needless to say, such a sprawling and specialized locale requires an immense amount of time and energy dedicated towards its upkeep.
We are extremely grateful to our volunteers over the fantastic job they did! Their hard work and dedication towards supporting people with disabilities left the campus with more than just a fresh coat of paint. It was a rejuvenating and inspiring experience to witness and work alongside these future leaders. The pleasure that they found in giving their time and energy to others was positively infectious!
From all of the staff and residents at the Sunrise Community 120-person village, thank you PAL for brightening our day, our home, and our hearts!
