It’s Official… Sunrise Bids Aloha to Its President of 40 Years
It’s official … Les Leech has left the building! President & CEO, Les Leech bid farewell to colleagues, peers, staff, public officials, and many of those served by the agency at his retirement party held on Thursday, June 30, 2016 at Vista Lago Ballroom in Miami. It was a night filled with nostalgia, laughs (a few at the expense of the outgoing president himself) and awards for a lifetime of service. The night was a fitting closure to a remarkable career of 40 years of continuous service to Sunrise and the greater disabilities community.

Sunrise’s Compliance Program Featured As National Best Practice
Tighter compliance regulations have challenged health and human service providers in a variety of ways. In 2010, the Affordable Care Act mandated compliance programs for Medicare and Medicaid providers. The reform law, which applies to all Medicare and Medicaid providers, requires the HHS secretary to promulgate “core elements” and set an effective date for compliance programs. As an innovative leader in the field of developmental disabilities, Sunrise was ahead of the mandate. Our Compliance Program Charter was adopted January 31st, 2007 by the Board of Directors. Since that time, Sunrise has consistently set the bar for compliance best practice among service providers. We are proud to be featured for our standards by Wolters Kluwer.

Letter from the President: 40 Years and Growing
It is with personal regret but warm wishes that Sunrise announces the retirement of our President & CEO, Les Leech, effective June 30. Les’ departure marks the end of an era for Sunrise Community. He was the leader who expanded Sunrise operations outside the state of Florida, managed through the devastation of Hurricane Andrew and tirelessly fought for community inclusion and the rights of people with disabilities. We are indebted to his vision and commitment for propelling us to our present position in the industry. His work has assured our established a strong foundation for our future success. In his last letter from the President, Les shares his thoughts on Sunrise’s future.
