Coral Gables PALS “Giving Back” in the best way possible

Coral Gables PALS have been loyal, dedicated volunteers on Sunrise beautification projects since 2012. They have contributed time, labor and skills to various Sunrise locations throughout Miami-Dade county from Miami Beach down to Homestead. In addition to our mission, Sunrise volunteers keep coming back because they learn a lot while giving back to their local community.

Volunteer projects naturally create a positive team-building experience for teen participants. Sunrise Coomunity is proud to partner with Coral Gables PALs to enhancing the volunteer’s learning experience by organizing team participation events that support the local population and create life-changing volunteer experiences for the attendees. Planning these projects takes experience, local knowledge, and attention to cultural and environmental concerns. It’s important to carefully define the volunteer activity and make sure that the action is meeting a true community need. For the beautification project at the Old Dixie Nursery, students got a crash course in Horticulture 101 from Sunrise Nursery Manager, Franz Weibezahn. Franz took the “lead” teaching the students how to pull weeds, re-pot plants and replace the ground cover. No project was too big or too small for this dedicated team of volunteers. The end results of their work was breath-taking!
