Sunrise announced that CBS4’s Ted Scouten will Emcee the festivities at its upcoming 10th Annual Magnolia Gala. “We are so pleased continue our working partnership with CBS4’s talent pool. We believe that Ted’s personal connection to the greater disabilities community is perfectly aligned with Sunrise’s mission,” said Les Leech, Sunrise President & CEO. Scouten is the youngest of five adopted children, the oldest two of which are developmentally disabled. As a sibling, Ted is a strong advocate for adoption, diversity and for the inclusion of people with intellectual and physical disabilities. ” This makes him the perfect emcee for a night celebrating people of all abilities… plus, he is a lot of fun!” added Leech.

The 10th Annual Gala will raise funds to support services, programs and individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities. The event will be hosted at the Hyatt Regency Coral Gables on Saturday, May 7, 2016. The evening will open with a cocktail reception starting at 7:00 p.m. and will offer guests the opportunity to view an exhibit featuring original work by emerging or established artists with disabilities. The unique gallery explores themes of disability culture and a perspective from the eye of artists with intellectual challenges. Sunrise supports this effort as part of its mission is “to provide people with disabilities the assistance and support necessary to enable them to live valued lives in the community.”

In addition to the Arts, gala attendees will have the opportunity to help support the expansion and beautification of Sunrise’s South Miami-Dade plant nursery and to help promote employment opportunities for those we serve. Like Sunrise, Scouten strongly supports inclusion as well as employment initiatives that include everyone, regardless of abilities. All children, youth and adults with disabilities should have access and the opportunity to engage in their local community. As an Emmy Award winning journalist and respected South Florida news anchor, Couten has covered many features on long-term health care issues including the delivery support system of which Sunrise is a private service provider. ‘Ted’s professional background, community engagement and his personality make him our ideal Emcee,” said Margaret Feldman, Sunrise’s Director of Corporate Communications & Advancement.
